The departmental syllabus for this course is at the following link: DEPARTMENT SYLLABUS
Please read the document at the following link that helps to explain ALEKS : ALEKS EXPLAINED
This syllabus says that your instructor is Ms. Velicky or Mr. Fleming, she/he is not. She/he is the person in charge of all math syllabus in our department. The College appends other information to all College syllabus, and she is the only one in the math department who has the password to create any additions or changes to math syllabi. For this reason, I created an addendum to the syllabus.

Good Luck with the course...You may find my office hours and more by going to Contact Info/Picture of My Family/Office Hours
You MUST have an access code for ALEKS. The codes come in two time intervals: 18 weeks and 52 weeks. I suspect that at least 90% of you should get a 52-week code since this code will work for MAT 101 and MAT 102; the most logical reason for taking MAT 101 is so you can go to MAT 102 afterward.
The 18-week code is approximately $120 while the 52-week code is approximately $170 -- please see bookstore or ALEKS.com for a more accurate estimate. If you are coming from MAT 033, you may not have to purchase a code.
For the start of the course, having the code is not necessary; I will give you a temporary code that will last for two weeks; but after the two weeks are up, you MUST have a purchased code.
You MUST have either a TI-83 or a TI-84 graphing calculator (any model like PLUS or SILVER or COLOR, just so the number is 83 or 84) and bring it with you to EVERY class period.
Often I post special announcements that I usually email to you. The list of these announcements are at the Bulletin Board.
These announcements contain information like special dates, college closings, and etc. The starting Bulletin Board contains Withdrawal Dates, Drop/Add Dates, Martin Luther King Day, and more.
Please look at often since you may miss an email from me. I will add to the Bulletin Board throughout the semester.
You may access the Bulletin Board by clicking here
BLANK LECTURE NOTES
Please try to bring some BLANK lecture notes to class. BLANK lecture notes are the problems that we will work in class; they do not contain the solutions. By printing these out, you can alleviate some note taking and provide a detailed idea of each weekly lectures.
The link to the blank lecture notes are at http://indrihovic.com/101/Blank_Lectures.html
LECTURE NOTES WITH SOLUTIONS
During lectures, I will work out the problems in the blank lecture notes. The worked out problems will be stored in the "Content" area of D2L.

Free virtual tutoring
available
In addition to the Math Hub Tutoring Center, the
Success Center, and other campus resources, the College has
arranged FREE tutoring for online
students through Brainfuse. Currently, students
must link to the resource through D2L. The College is working on
establishing a separate login. For now, to take advantage on this
